Description RocSupport (3.0) is a tool for estimating deformation in circular (or near circular) excavations in weak rock and visualization of the tunnel interaction with various support systems. The analysis method is commonly referred to as "rock-support interaction" or "convergence-confinement" analysis, and is applicable to tunnels excavated in weak rock under squeezing ground conditions. Given the tunnel radius, in-situ stress, rock parameters and support parameters, a ground reaction curve and a support reaction curve are calculated (equivalent support pressure vs. tunnel convergence). The intersection of these curves determines a factor of safety for the support system. Ground reaction curves can be computed based on Mohr-Coulomb or Generalized Hoek-Brown failure criteria. Long term ground reaction curve can be plotted. Support types: pre-defined rock bolt, steel set and shotcrete types can be applied in any combination; or custom support properties can be defined. Support installation at a specified distance from face or tunnel convergence. Longitudinal deformation profile can be user-defined or automatic. Deterministic or probabilistic analysis to compute factor of safety or probability of failure of the support. Probabilistic options: normal, uniform, triangular, lognormal, beta, exponential, gamma statistical distributions; histogram, cumulative and scatter plots of statistical results; Monte-Carlo or Latin-Hypercube simulation techniques; best fit distribution for output variables. Data presentation: tunnel section view, ground reaction view, info viewer (detailed summary of input data and analysis results); one-click export of data and charts to Excel. Export image files to clipboard or .jpg, .bmp, .wmf, .emf. Estimate Young's modulus or UCS of rock mass from Hoek-Brown parameters. GSI chart for estimating Geological Strength Index. It can be used for the preliminary design of tunnels and support systems, before detailed analysis is carried out with a finite element program such as Phase2.
