Description | Win-SSI uses the CLASSI methodology developed by Wong and Luco for the seismic margins program in the 1970s. The structure is represented using finite elements (this can be imported from most major FEA packages), the soil is represented by Green's functions as an infinite media. Solution is in the time domain to produce a linear solution which works efficiently on a PC. Restrictions are that foundations must be surface mounted and rigid which suits typical heavy nuclear structures. Very complex structures can be reduced to a modal input which will run swiftly. Multiple foundations can be incorporated in the model. Since the software was developed for seismic margins studies it will automatically process multiple sets of input time histories, soil bounds and will help investigate the sensitivity to soil and structure variations. Multiple runs can be made without rerunning the FEA model. |
