Description ReSSA is an interactive program for assessing the rotational and translational stability of slopes. Version 1.0 was licensed exclusively to FHWA. The current version 2.0 can be used as a slope stability program capable of handling geosynthetic and metallic reinforcement. Reinforcement properties follow AASHTO 98 and Demo 82 guidelines. However, the user can override all default values. It uses both Bishop and Spencer methods considering circular and 2- and 3-part wedge mechanisms. It can consider complex geometries with up to 25 different soils, phreatic surface or up to 20 piezometric lines, tension crack, surcharge loads and seismicity. In addition to complex geometries, the main menu allows for input data of simple slopes or slopes with up to 10 tiers. A low cost demo version is available and includes Publication FHWA-NHI-00-043 (the new edition of Demonstration Project 82) as a pdf file.
