Description | CLU_STAR is a program for rock mass discontinuity cluster analysis and rock mass stability analysis. It allows filing, calculation and graphical representation of geological discontinuity data. Cluster analysis, for the recognition of joint families, is carried out by a procedure of pole aggregation similar to that used in multivariate analysis. These procedures are designed to operate directly on the collected data instead of on their statistical distribution, this allows results much nearer to the geomechanical reality to be obtained. It is possible to choose the level of aggregation, and hence the dimension of the cluster, as well as the algorithms for the assignment of the joints to the individual families. The program identifies rock wedges and determines their safety factor including allowance for external loads and rock bolts. The hydraulic conductivity of the rock mass can be determined. The graphic output includes a star diagram of the dip directions and stereographic polar projection (equal area, Schmidt net or equal angle, Wulff net, on the upper or lower hemisphere) of the original joints as well as the families found. Optionally circle arcs, wedge safety factors and friction angle can be added to the plot. All input and output data can be printed in text form. Results can be cut and pasted to other programs or exported in Microsoft Word 97 format. The complete user manual is available on-line. Multilingual (Italian, English, French and Spanish). LAN supported. A full working demo version is available on the WWW. |
