Description | LIQUITER determines by the Seed and Idriss (1982) method the safety factor against liquefaction of saturated non-cohesive strata subjected to earthquake loading. Input data is the soil unit weight, SPT relative density and the median particle diameter together with the seismic parameters necessary to simulate the earthquake. The formula used enables one to take into account the maximum acceleration peaks through the ratio of cyclical stress induced by the earthquake with reference to an average value instead of the maximum value. For each SPT test a correction factor is calculated that is a function of the depth where the test is performed and the relative density. It is possible to consider the presence of a surface load or the overlying strata. The analysis is based on the resistance factor to liquefaction calculated as the ratio between the limit shear stress that induces liquefaction and the maximum shear stress induced by the quake, taking into account the interstitial pressures and deformations developed during the earthquake. Results can be cut and pasted to other programs or exported in Microsoft Word 97 format. The complete user manual is available on-line. Multilingual (Italian, English, French and Spanish). LAN supported. A full working demo version is available on the WWW. |
