| Description | The CVM finite element model provides a simple first simulation to a groundwater contamination problem prior to running more complex models. It provides a solution to the governing equations describing the transport of contaminant in a steady-state or transient groundwater flow field based on: conservation of contaminant mass, hydrodynamic dispersion, molecular diffusion, particle advection, adsorption, radioactive decay, contaminant recharge from a surface boundary or from an adjoining leaky aquifer. Darcy velocities and aquifer thicknesses may be read in manually or can be read from a file created by CVMFLOW for the equivalent groundwater flow problem. The program includes automatic mesh and timestep generation. Problems involving confined, semi-confined and unconfined, transient and steady-state conditions can be simulated for 1D Cartesian and radial flow systems. |
