Description	SAFE provides two-dimensional finite element computations in plane stress, plane strain, or axial symmetry. Pore pressures and effective stresses are identified separately, and gravitational loads and initial stresses are included. Features include: analysis of plane stress, plane strain or axi-symmetric problems; linear or non-linear behaviour, including Mohr-Coulomb and modified Cam-clay gravity loading; stress relaxation/creep; pore pressures and effective stresses are identified separately, allowing computation for drained or undrained conditions; incremental loading and changes of material properties permit the formation of excavations, embankments, etc; intermediate results may be stored and inspected before the problem is continued further; pressure and point loading; fixed or spring restraints; four, eight or twelve node curvilinear quadrilateral elements; general loading of axi-symmetric elastic structures can be performed using a Fourier series technique; a wide range of tabular and graphical output options.
