Description | MODMAN is an optimisation program designed to link with the USGS MODFLOW model in conjunction with the proprietary optimisation software LINDO, yields answers to the following ground-water management questions: where should pumping and injection wells be located, and at what rate should water be extracted or injected at each well? Uses the IGWMC version of MODFLOW. Parameters specific to the optimisation procedure are defined in MODMAN and the optimisation calculations are completed by the LINDO program. In the first step, the MODMAN program is linked with the MODFLOW input files to create an input file to be used by the LINDO solver. The LINDO program is then executed to perform optimisation based on the user specified parameters. In the second step, MODMAN is executed for postprocessing of optimisation results. An error file is created by MODMAN in both steps that may be used in trouble-shooting final output. MODMAN runs in batch mode. There is no MODMAN pre-processor available, but the MODFLOW data sets can be prepared with the PREMOD pre-processor included in the IGWMC MODFLOW package. |
