Description | EQS4WIN calculates chemical equilibria in many types of systems, from geochemical systems to adiabatic combustion flame temperatures. Incorporates a unified theoretical approach and numerical algorithms of Smith and Missen ("Chemical Reaction Equilibrium Analysis: Theory and Algorithms, Wiley-Interscience, 1982; Krieger, 1991). It allows problems to be specified with either reaction equilibrium constants or species-specific free energy data. A large built-in database of the latter type of data, based on the species in the JANAF tables, corrects several areas in the published hard-copy version of these tables. Additional special problem types include equilibrium constraints (the a priori specification of equilibrium species concentrations) and stoichiometric restrictions (the specification of a limited set of reactions). Handles up to 4 multi-species ideal-solution phases (gas plus up to 3 liquid or solid solutions) plus any number of pure condensed species. The maximum number of elements is 20, and the number of species is essentially unlimited. A free Lite Version is available for educational use, limited only by problem size and input/output restrictions. It also contains a large number of realistic problem example files that can be used to explore many types of equilibrium problems. |
